According to the Catholic Church, a woman cannot receive the sacrament of ordination, also known as Holy Orders.
In a YouTube Short video, Father David Michael provides reasons to support this.
We follow the example of Jesus, who only chose men to be priests, but there are many ways to look at it to see that this isn’t an unfair doctrine.
Looking at how men and women are different but equal, we can look at a parallel question: are men less important and not as valuable as women since they can’t get pregnant and give birth to babies? No, it’s just because they are different and complement each other. Women not being allowed to be ordained as priests doesn’t make them less important or less valuable; in fact, the Church believes the Virgin Mary, a woman, is greater than any ordained priest or man walking on the Earth (besides Jesus, of course.)
Priests are known as fathers, so if we ordained women, would we call them mothers? Fathers are different than mothers. Neither are expendable, and we need both.
Jesus was a man, a groom who laid down his life for his bride, the Church. Every priest is in union with Jesus in that relationship.
It’s clear the enemy is always trying to pit men against women, because when they are aligned to work together they can accomplish so much good.
