Lenten Prayer

Throughout Lent, at the end of each day, take the time to rest and return to the Lord.

Here I am

I stand before you, Lord.
You know me, you accompany me through my days.
I have nothing to hide; I present myself to you as I am,
with my emotions, my thoughts, my concerns.

Thank you

Yes, thank you, Lord, for this day that is drawing to a close.
Thank you for your presence in my joys and sorrows,
for your support in my successes and failures.
Remind me of the marvels I have been able to observe,
the comforts I have been offered,
the inner stirrings that lead me or have led me towards a greater hope.
I give you thanks for all your works that I have seen performed today.

Forgive me

Forgive me, Lord, if I have closed myself off from the inner promptings you sought to sow in me today, or if I have stifled the stirrings of life to which you invited me. I abandon myself to you, with confidence, in your merciful arms.

Tomorrow

Day by day,
I better understand the grace that I need to let myself be led by you.
I ask you again for this grace tomorrow,
so that it may brighten my day.
Help me to continue to cultivate hope in myself and in those around me.
Finally, let me say this prayer again,
in the confident spirit as God’s child:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
