The response to this question is simple: absolutely.

Everyone, whether you are Catholic or not, can go to purgatory for purification before heaven. Father Mark explains it is foolish to think that people who do not believe in purgatory will not have a chance to go there after they pass away. Purgatory is a part of reality, just like gravity. Someone who does not believe in gravity will feel the affects of it, regardless of their belief. In the same way, purgatory is for everyone.

The advantage for Catholics is that they have the sacraments, like penance/confession and the Holy Eucharist, which with God’s grace can help reduce time in purgatory or prevent the need for it altogether.
