Week 3 – Joy:
Lord God, may we, your people, who look forward to the birthday of Christ, experience the joy of salvation and celebrate that feast with love and thanksgiving. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

As manifested by Our Lord, Jesus Christ to Maria Cecilia Baij, O.S.B.
Looking over the landscape on one occasion, Joseph remarked to Mary: “Oh my precious and beloved spouse! All this that we see about us is the handiwork of our God, this God Whom You bear within Your pure womb. I beseech You to sing to Him for me, praising and extolling His wisdom and might.” This was agreeable to the Mother of God, and she sang so sweetly that the happy Joseph was once again completely carried away.

The exceedingly holy couple had a great deal to endure on this trip due to the cold and to other circumstantial factors, which were the common lot of all poor travelers. The Incarnate Word filled their souls with many consolations, and these were so great that Mary and Joseph were actually able to rejoice amid all their sufferings. They always remained cheerful and were quite content with the simple realization that they were fulfilling the divine will.
