Prep for Lent

Lent is quickly approaching and what should we be doing during Lent that’s different than the other times of the year?

The greatest thing we can this Lent is to be sinless and help others. We can try to be saints. Easier said than done. But through prayer and God’s grace, we can certainly try to not commit any sins and seek opportunities to help bear the burdens of others. Lent can be our starting point to being better, and then once we make a habit out of it, we can continue with it after Easter.

During Lent, we can try to be better people by trying to at least give up the one sin that we fall into over and over again. Let’s resist that one thing we do most often that separates us from God.

Aside from eliminating that sin we commit the most, we can also try to offer up or give up something that will remind us that we are in a special period of the year leading up to Easter.

Give up something without a “double benefit” and to step up for a greater Lent than last year.

Offering something that we can do throughout Lent and that makes us uncomfortable could be a good thing.

Should we talk to others about what we’re giving up or doing for Lent?
We definitely could and be humble about it, and it could be a way to evangelize or to be a good example.

We are called to give from our needs or substance, not just our leftovers or surplus.

Lent is a time to deepen your faith through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. We can use it as a starting point to becoming better people even after the period of Lent is over.

Make this your BEST Lent ever!
